Subsidy for hydrogen production by electrolysis (OWE)

Do you want to produce renewable (sustainable) hydrogen with an electrolyser? You can apply for the Subsidy scheme for large scale hydrogen production with an electrolyser (OWE). Renewable hydrogen is produced with solar and wind energy. Large electrolyser installations are required for the production. The subsidy helps cover the investment costs of your production chain and the production of renewable hydrogen itself.

What are the conditions for the OWE?

You can apply for the OWE subsidy if you:

• will build a hydrogen production plant for a sustainable production of hydrogen throughout the production process
• will use an electrolyser with a capacity of at least 0.5 megawatts
• apply for the subsidy before you start using the hydrogen production plant and before you make any commitments (such as payments and orders)
• are not dependent on a different subsidy that you have not received yet

You can apply for the OWE subsidy from 15 October to 31 October 2024. Follow the step-by-step plan to prepare for your application for the 2024 OWE subsidy. Note that the subsidy conditions for 2024 are different from the 2023 conditions.
