Do you want to invest in environmentally friendly projects in the Netherlands? Maybe your project is eligible for a Green Declaration. With a Green Declaration you can request ‘green financing’ for your project from your bank. The interest on this loan is lower than you would normally pay.

The Green Projects Scheme (Regeling Groenprojecten, in Dutch) stimulates new developments in environmental technology, circular economy, and durable and innovative (construction) projects.

When do you qualify?

You are eligible for benefits from the Green Projects Scheme if you meet the general conditions, such as:

  • your project is new (not older than 6 months)
  • your project is eligible for a Green Declaration (groenverklaring, in Dutch) and you have not previously received Green Declaration for the project
  • your project capital is € 25,000 or more

In addition to the general conditions, your project must meet the conditions of one of the 7 project categories:

  • nature
  • sustainable agriculture
  • circular economy
  • sustainable energy
  • sustainable construction
  • sustainable transportation
  • climate adaptation

You can find out more about the subcategories with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO, in Dutch), or contact the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

How to apply?

Do you intend to invest in a 'green' project? You should first verify if the project you want to invest in is eligible for a Green Declaration (groenverklaring). Then you submit a project plan with an investment plan to a bank with a green fund (in Dutch). Then the bank will apply to RVO for a green declaration on your behalf and they can grant you a loan at a lower interest for this investment.
