Subsidy for providing essential medical care to uninsured patients

Are you a healthcare organisation and do you provide essential medical care to uninsured patients? Or are you uncertain about whether a patient is insured. Then you can apply for a subsidy for emergency and non-emergency healthcare.

When do you qualify?

• You provide essential medical care (covered by basic health insurance) to an uninsured person. This subsidy does not apply if you provide healthcare to uninsured aliens without right of residence or a residence permit (in Dutch).
• The patient is unable to pay for the healthcare him or herself.
• You must apply for the subsidy no later than 12 months after the quarter in which you treated the patient.
• You have a General Economic Interest Service (DAEB) contract with the CAK.

How to apply?

You can apply for the essential medical care subsidy (in Dutch) for uninsured patients to the Central Administration Office (CAK).
