Circular Batteries Subsidy (SCB)

Do you want to improve and develop sustainable batteries or battery chain systems? Or do you want to improve the recycling process of batteries? Then you can apply for the Circular Batteries Subsidy (Subsidie Circulaire Batterijen, SCB).

For example, you will:

  • develop innovative battery components and materials
  • produce equipment for batteries
  • develop battery systems for electric vehicles and keeping the power grid stable
  • recycle and reuse batteries

What are the conditions for the SCB?

You can apply for the SCB subsidy if:

  • You work together with at least 1 research organisation or with other entrepreneurs.
  • Your project focuses on rechargeable batteries.
  • Your project fits 1 of the 4 subjects of the SCB (in Dutch):
    • recovery of critical materials by improving the recycling process of lithium batteries
    • development and application of batteries with a long lifespan
    • research and development of battery materials and production processes for next-generation lithium batteries
    • circular battery systems for heavy vehicles
  • You have not started the project before application.
  • Your project will start within 6 months after you receive the subsidy.
  • The project takes no longer than 4 years.
  • The costs covered by the subsidy are at least € 125,000 for each organisation of the partnership.
  • Your innovation has a sufficient chance of succeeding in the Dutch market and society, including Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba.

You can get more subsidy if your business is an SME or if you work together with a research organisation.

How to apply?

You can apply for the Circular Batteries Subsidy (in Dutch) from 16 December 2024, 9:00 hours until 16 April 2025, 17:00 hours to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
