Permit and authorisation for provincial waterway structures
Do you want to build a structure in the Netherlands on, over, or next to a provincial waterway? For instance bridges, jetties, bank facilities, or harbour basins? You must have a permit or dispensation from the provincial authority.

at your municipality, province, or water authority
You need a permit for canals (vergunning Kanalenreglement) from the provincal authorities if you want to:
- dig,
- build,
- reroute or re-lay,
- rebuild,
- modify,
- prevent the use of/decommission, or
- dismantle (celan up)
a structure in provincial waterways. You may have to pay administrative charges.
Do you need to moor a vessel on a fixed location to perform building activities? You need to apply for an exemption with the provincial authority.
