Inspection of tailboards and passenger lifting devices (LPK inspection)
In the Netherlands, tailboards of delivery vans must be maintained and inspected regularly. This also applies to passenger lifting devices, for example on wheelchair buses. The Dutch Working Conditions Act states that you have to do this at least once a year.
Approved testing station
Tailboards and passenger lifts are not inspected during the periodical motor vehicle test (APK). You must have the inspections performed yearly by an approved LPK testing station (in Dutch). The manufacturer may specify that the tailboard or passenger lift should be inspected more often.
Once the tailboard has been inspected, you will receive your test certificate. The sticker bearing the unique inspection number must be placed visibly on the tailboard or passenger lifting device. You will also receive a checklist showing all the inspection points (digital).
You must also have an LPK inspection if:
- you build in or have built in a tailboard or passenger lifting device in your van
- there was an incident, and you suspect the tailboard or lifting device is damaged
