Applying for a licence for space activities
Do you want to perform activities in space from the Netherlands, such as launches or control and operational activities? You need a licence for space activities from the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure. The Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure monitors compliance with the telecommunications regulations. You must also register any objects you use, such as the spacecraft/satellite, with the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure.
Arrangements with the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure
Before you apply for a licence to perform space activities, you must discuss your plans with the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure. You then make arrangements concerning amongst others on:
- the goal of your activities
- the position of your spacecraft in orbit
- concluding a cooperation agreement with the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure
The Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure will monitor if you live up to the agreements.
Application and registration
You need to apply for a licence for space activities at least 6 months before the intended activities to the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (in Dutch).
If the licence has been granted, you need to register your spacecraft, satellite and/or any other objects you will use with the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (in Dutch).
Online application and registration via Message Box
You can apply for a licence for space activities and register the spacecraft/satellite you use to the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure also via Message Box. Message Box is a secure email system that enables you as an entrepreneur to exchange digital messages with Dutch government agencies.
