About the Netherlands Tax Administration
The Netherlands Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) is a major partner of Business.gov.nl. The Belastingdienst is the government organisation responsible for imposing and collecting taxes on behalf of the state, and implementing various allowances and schemes for Dutch residents.
The Dutch government needs a source of revenue to provide residents with education, security and health care, as well as social security, motorways and railways, etc. Private individuals and businesses pay taxes and premiums in exchange for these services. The Tax Administration collects these taxes and premiums, and ensures that anyone liable for tax adheres to the rules.
