What has changed?
Do you run a childcare organisation in the Netherlands? Since 1 July 2024, the requirements for professional childcarers at daycare or out-of-school care (buitenschoolse opvang, BSO) facilities have changed. This allows you to employ differently qualified professionals at your BSO, or professional childcarers in training at your daycare facility. These changes are meant to reduce the workload in the childcare sector.
Changes for daycare
- you can deploy professional childcarers in training to meet the familiar-face criterion
Changes for out-of-school care
- you may calculate the professional childcarer-child ratio for the childcare location as a whole instead of per group
- it is easier to spread children out over different locations of your organisation during school-free days
- you can employ differently qualified professionals such as sports, music, or cultural professionals if you meet certain conditions
For whom?
- entrepreneurs in daycare
- entrepreneurs in out-of-school care (BSO)
When?
This change to the 'Childcare Quality Decree' has entered into effect on 1 July 2024.
