Fuel excise duty reduction extended to end of 2025

What changes?

The previously reduced excise duty on petrol, diesel, and LPG will remain in place throughout 2025. In addition, there will be no inflation adjustment on fuel excise duty in 2025. As a result, the rates will remain the same as in 2024. These are the proposed excise duty rates:

• petrol: €0.79
• diesel: €0.52
• LPG: €0.19

For whom?

• Entrepreneurs who have fuel costs for business transport.

When?

The change in law is expected to enter into effect on 1 January 2025.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the Lower and Upper Houses (Tweede en Eerste Kamer) of parliament. After publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch) the law can take effect.
