Energy tax on natural gas reduced in 2025
On this page
What has changed?
Are you an entrepreneur and do you use natural gas? Or do you supply natural gas to end users? The energy tax on natural gas has been reduced. The government has lowered the tax rate by €0.028 (2.8 eurocents) per m3. The new, reduced tariff applies to a usage of 170,000 m3 per year. In other words, you pay less energy tax on the amount of energy you use below that threshold. Energy suppliers are required to apply the new tariff and state it on their invoices.
With this measure the government wants to help keep energy costs affordable.
For whom?
- entrepreneurs who use natural gas
- natural gas suppliers
When?
The change in law entered into effect on 1 January 2025.
