Education requirements for working with babies

What changes?

Do you work in childcare? From 1 January 2025, new education requirements apply to childcare staff working with babies. They must have had further training focused on working with babies. This requirement also applies to temporary and on-call staff. The extra education requirements will be in force from 1 January 2025 for everyone working either structurally or occasionally with groups that include one or more babies.

Childcare staff without this extra training may not work in a group with 0-year-olds. Even if the staff member is not tasked with the care of the babies in the group.

This change in the Childcare Provisions Act Regulations (Regeling Wet Kinderopvang) will come into effect on 1 January 2025.
